Bile does two jobs
Bile emulsifies the fats you eat so you can absorb them, along with vitamins A, D, E and K. It's also the main exit route for many things the liver has processed. If bile is thick and slow, both jobs suffer.
Signs include pain or fullness under the right ribs after fatty meals, light-colored or floating stools, nausea with rich food, and dry skin.
Supporting flow
Beets, bitter greens, radishes, lemon, and enough healthy fat to actually ask the gallbladder to work. Very low-fat diets can let bile sit and thicken.
If you've had your gallbladder removed, bile still needs support. It just drips constantly instead of releasing in a squeeze.
